Frequently Asked Questions About Boudoir Photography
I’m not comfortable sharing my images online. How private will my images be?
Your privacy is extremely important at Boudoir of Cincinnati.
I do not share your images with anyone unless you give permission. Every image you see on my website, social media, or marketing was either created with a model or shared with permission from a client who was excited about her images and wanted them shown.
I have worked with teachers, public figures, celebrities, politicians, professionals, mothers, wives, and women who simply wanted this experience to stay completely private. Some clients are excited to share their images. Others never want anyone else to see them. Both choices are respected.
Your boudoir session is personal. Your privacy comes first.
I’m worried about acne, cellulite, scars, wrinkles, stretch marks, or other things I don’t like about my body. Do you offer retouching?
Yes, retouching is available.
Please do not feel like you need to have perfect skin or a perfect body before booking a boudoir session. Lighting, posing, angles, wardrobe, expression, and professional editing all make a major difference in the final images.
The goal is not to make you look like a completely different person. The goal is to help you look like the best, most confident version of yourself while still feeling natural and real.
If there are specific things you are self-conscious about, we can talk about them before your shoot so I know what matters most to you.
I don’t look like the women on your website. Do you think I can still have a good shoot?
Yes. Absolutely.
I photograph women of all ages, shapes, sizes, and comfort levels. The women you see on my website are only the women who gave me permission to share their images. Many clients never share their photos publicly, so the website does not show the full range of women I work with.
Most of the women on my website were nervous too. Many did not feel confident in their bodies before the shoot. Confidence often shows up during the experience, not before it.
Today’s culture tells women they have to look a very specific way to be beautiful or sexy. After years of photographing women, I can tell you that beauty, confidence, femininity, and sensuality are not limited to one body type, age, size, or personality.
You do not need to look like someone else to have a beautiful boudoir shoot. The goal is to help you see yourself differently.
How do I schedule a session and when can I get in?
The best way to start is with a consultation.
Boudoir is personal, and I believe it is important for you to feel comfortable with the photographer before booking. During the consultation, we can talk about what you want, what you are nervous about, privacy, wardrobe, posing, pricing, products, and whether this experience feels like the right fit for you.
Availability depends on the studio calendar, hair and makeup scheduling, and how quickly you need your finished images or products. Some clients book because they have a wedding, anniversary, birthday, deployment, Valentine’s Day gift, or other deadline. If you have a specific date you need your images by, please mention that as early as possible.
The consultation helps us make sure there is enough time to plan the session properly and create the experience you are looking for.
Can I bring someone with me to my shoot?
Yes, but I usually recommend coming by yourself.
The short answer is that you may bring someone if you feel you need to. The longer answer is that boudoir sessions usually work best when I can give you my full attention and you can focus fully on the experience.
Having another person in the room can sometimes make clients feel more awkward, distracted, or self-conscious. It is already vulnerable to pose in front of a camera. Having someone else watching can make it harder to relax, even if that person is supportive.
That said, your comfort matters. If bringing someone helps you feel safer, please let me know ahead of time. We can talk through what makes the most sense. There is also a lobby area where a guest may be able to wait, and there are restaurants and shops nearby if they want to occupy their time during your session.
I’d love to do an intimate boudoir session with my significant other. Do you offer couples boudoir?
Couples boudoir may be available depending on the style, comfort level, and purpose of the session.
The most important thing is that the session stays tasteful, respectful, and aligned with the style of Boudoir of Cincinnati. I do not create pornographic images, but I do believe intimate, romantic, emotional, and artistic images can be beautiful when done with the right intention.
If you are interested in a couples session, the best next step is a consultation so we can talk through what you are looking for, what your boundaries are, and whether the session is a good fit.
What if I want beautiful pictures of myself but don’t really want to do boudoir?
That is completely okay.
Not every session has to feel bold, revealing, or sensual. Some clients want beautiful portraits, confidence portraits, fitness images, maternity images, personal branding-style images, or something softer and more modest.
Boudoir can be playful, romantic, classy, cozy, implied, covered, bold, or very subtle. The session can be shaped around your comfort level.
You do not have to do anything that feels disconnected from who you are. The goal is to create images that feel beautiful, honest, and aligned with you.
Can I come meet you and see the studio before our session?
Yes, and I actually prefer that.
Boudoir is personal. A consultation gives you the chance to meet me, see the studio, ask questions, talk through your concerns, and decide whether you feel comfortable before booking.
The consultation is not meant to pressure you. It is meant to give you clarity.
If you meet me and decide I am not the right photographer for you, that is okay. I would rather you choose the photographer who makes you feel the safest, most comfortable, and most aligned with your goals.
Are hair and makeup included? Can I do my own hair and makeup to save money?
Professional hair and makeup may be included depending on the package or session option you choose.
Unlike many boudoir photographers, I may allow clients to do their own hair and makeup if they are trying to save money or if they have someone they trust. However, I strongly recommend professional hair and makeup for most boudoir sessions.
Hair and makeup are not just about how you look. They help set the tone for the entire experience. Being pampered before the shoot can help you relax, feel more confident, and step into the session with a different energy.
I work with talented hair and makeup artists who have experience with professional shoots, events, media, and performance environments. Professional preparation can make a big difference in how confident and camera-ready you feel.
What happens if my images are lost or deleted?
If you lose or delete your copies after delivery, I keep client images on file for up to one year unless you request otherwise.
In the rare event that images are lost before they are delivered, every reasonable effort will be made to recover them. If recovery is not possible, the amount paid for the shoot may be applied toward another session within six months.
Because photography involves scheduled studio time, professional services, preparation, and time already reserved for your session, refunds are not provided for image loss. However, I will always make every reasonable effort to make the situation right.
Do I bring my own lingerie? Do you have anything I can use or suggestions on what to bring?
Yes, you should bring your own wardrobe.
I do not provide lingerie for clients to wear, but I do have some props and items that may be used during the shoot. I can also offer suggestions and may have discounts or recommendations for local lingerie stores.
You do not need to bring only lingerie. Great boudoir wardrobe options can include bodysuits, robes, oversized sweaters, button-down shirts, sheets, jackets, jerseys, dresses, personal items, or anything that makes you feel beautiful and comfortable.
Do not overthink it. I have done entire shoots with nothing but a sheet. We can make a lot work with the right posing, lighting, and confidence.
I don’t see nude photos on your website. Do you offer that type of photography?
Yes, but with boundaries.
The human form can be beautiful, and I can create tasteful nude or implied nude images if that is something you want. However, I do not show most of those images on my website, and I do not create pornographic images.
To me, the difference between boudoir and pornography is intention. Boudoir is about beauty, confidence, intimacy, emotion, and self-expression. It is not about creating images that feel explicit, performative, or disconnected from who you are.
A person can be photographed tastefully with very little clothing, and a person can be photographed in a way that feels uncomfortable even when fully clothed. The difference is the intention, posing, lighting, expression, and respect for boundaries.
What is a digital image, and can I order physical prints or products like albums, books, calendars, or wall art?
A digital image is an electronic version of your final edited photo.
Depending on your package or order, you may also be able to purchase printed products such as albums, books, wall art, calendars, or other finished pieces.
Digital images are great for personal use and easy storage. Printed products are ideal if you want something tangible, polished, and professionally finished.
How long does it take for the finished images to be ready after my session?
The average turnaround time is around 14 days after your session.
If you need your images faster, a rush option may be available. A $100 rush fee may apply if you need the edits completed within 3 days. Product turnaround times vary depending on what you order.
In some cases, it may be possible to have a completed photo book within about 5 days, but this depends on scheduling, design time, production, and delivery availability.
If you have a deadline, please mention it before booking so we can plan properly.
What is your refund policy? Can I reschedule?
Once your session is scheduled, the studio time is reserved, and my time and the hair and makeup artist’s time may also be blocked off. Because that time is no longer available for other clients, deposits and completed sessions are not refundable.
If you need to reschedule, please give as much notice as possible.
If you reschedule within 7 days of your session, half of your deposit may go toward lost studio and scheduling fees, and the other half may be applied toward your rescheduled session.
The best thing to do is communicate as early as possible if something comes up. I understand that life happens, and I will do my best to work with you while also respecting the time and costs already reserved for your session.
I am flying in from out of town. What hotel do you recommend?
The studio is located in Newport, Kentucky, right across the river from downtown Cincinnati.
There are several beautiful hotels in downtown Cincinnati, Newport, and the surrounding area. If you are traveling in for your session, I recommend choosing a hotel that makes the day feel easy, relaxed, and special.
Downtown Cincinnati, Newport on the Levee, and nearby riverfront areas are all convenient options depending on the kind of stay you want.
